Parish Priest

Fr Alex was born on January 5th, 1990, at Queens Hospital in Burton-upon-Trent.

In 2013, Fr Alex was accepted for priestly formation for the Archdiocese of Birmingham and spent a propaedeutic year at the Royal English College in Valladolid, Spain.

After completing his year in Spain, Fr Alex continued his formation at St Mary’s College, Oscott, the seminary of the Archdiocese of Birmingham. He remained there until officially leaving in June 2020. The final few months of formation were completed in his home parish during the first lockdown of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Due to the pandemic, the original ordination date was changed from July 18th to September 12th, 2020. Fr Alex was ordained by Archbishop Bernard Longley and appointed to assist Canon Jonathan Veasey in Acock’s Green in August 2020. He took up his post a few days after ordination on September 14th, 2020. Fr Alex also served as chaplain to Archbishop Ilsley Catholic Secondary School and covered on call at Heartlands Hospital.

In September 2023, Fr Alex moved from Acocks Green to the parish of Blessed Carlo Acutis in Wolverhampton to assist Mgr Mark Crisp. He helped manage the churches and schools associated with Saint Peter and St Paul, St Michael and St Bernadette, and Wombourne. Fr Alex was also appointed as the priest chaplain at St Edmund’s Catholic Academy Wolverhampton and covered on call at New Cross Hospital.

In July 2025, it was announced that Fr Alex would replace Fr Des in the parish of St John Vianney in Coventry. He began his new appointment as parish priest on September 1st, 2025, and will also look after the primary school next door.
